Who it suits: parent with a UK job offer from a licensed sponsor

Main requirements

Usually paid at least GBP 41,700/yr or the job's going rate, whichever is higher (lower floor of GBP 33,400 in some cases).

Family: partner and children under 18 can apply as dependants (restrictions for care workers and 'medium skilled' jobs)

School: gov.uk lists 'study' among what dependants can do.

Global Talent visa

Who it suits: leaders / potential leaders in academia, research, arts, digital tech

Main requirements

Endorsement by an approved body or an eligible prize; GBP 766 fee per person plus healthcare surcharge (usually GBP 1,035/yr per person).

Family: partner and children can be included (each pays GBP 766)

School: Study rights for dependants not stated on the fetched page.

Child Student visa (+ Parent of a Child Student visa)

Who it suits: child aged 4-17 at an independent (fee-paying) school; one parent may accompany a child aged 4-11

Main requirements

Unconditional offer from an independent school; GBP 558 fee; maintenance funds e.g. GBP 1,560/month for child + accompanying parent (+GBP 625 per additional child). Parent visa: only one parent, keep main home outside UK, GBP 637.

Family: one parent only, for children 4-11; parent cannot work

School: Route exists specifically for independent schools.
